MUSTAFA KAYA; JOURNALIST:

Mustafa Kaya, born in 1947 in Ürgüp, is a Turkish Language and Literature teacher and he is well known with the researches he has been working on since 1985 about the history and the folklore of Cappadocia, especially about Urgup. His articles were published on many magazines among which Peribacası Cappadocia Magazine exists. Kaya, working as a chief editor for 3 years in Nevşehir Magazine, published by Nevşehir Municipality, has 3 research books, named “Ürgüp, From Past to Today” (1993). “Cappadocia Faith Tourism” (2001) and “Folklore of Nevşehir” (2007- together with Emrullah Güney and Hüseyin Güney) and he also has one poetry book named “Cappadocia, Thousand Tables and Thousand Mysteries”. Kaya also worked hard for publishing the work of Kemal Talih Turkmen, named “A Section from Unknown Cappadocia: Ürgüp”. For many years as a guest speaker he has been attending many conferences about the protection of Cappadocia, which he has been researching about by traveling from one village to another. Since 1998, he is the representative of ÇEKÜL (Environment and Cultural Heritage Protection and Promotion Foundation) in Ürgüp. He is also one of the founders and president of TÜKODER (The Protection of Consumer Association) in Ürgüp.
In order to have an interview, we visited Mustafa Kaya, who is racing against the time, at his home, full of with books and documents.
